Women’s Studies

The Wednesday morning Women’s Bible studies have resumed. It’s not too late to join one of the classes listed here.

1 Corinthians – Precept Upon Precept study
- This is a book about spiritual growth. In this study you will learn to practically apply what God teaches us from the study of His Word. The heart behind this study is to help us grow into strong Christian women. Book cost: $17.25.

Covenant – Precept Upon Precept study
- As believers, we are in a binding agreement or covenant with God. You will study inductively to learn about our covenant-keeping God, what the covenant is that we have entered into, and how this covenant makes a difference in our lives. Book cost: $27.25.

Jonah – Navigating a Life Interrupted by Priscilla Shirer
- Interruptions come in all sizes and shapes, colors and shades, both good and bad. Each season of life seems to include a few – despite our efforts to avoid them. Sometimes our interruptions make us wonder if God even cares. So, welcome to Jonah’s life. He knows how an interrupted life feels, and he has a first-hand account of how yielding to God is our best decision. Book cost: $13.00.

Bible Study for MEMs (Moms Encouraging Moms)
- This group meets for Bible study, periodic socials, and guest speakers. Their Bible study will explore God’s rich character through Precept’s Lord, I Want to Know You, a topical study on the names of God. Additionally, a parallel children’s study will use Precept’s God, What’s your Name. Classes will be available for ages 5-7 and ages 8 and older. Book cost: $10.00 (for mothers) and $11.00 (children’s companion study).

King’s Table Moms
- Mothers of special needs’ children will study Nancy Leigh DeMoss’ book, a Thirty Day Walk through the Psalms. This book will make your time with God a daily focus and will provide insight into His Word and application for your Daily Life. Book cost: $11.00.

Bolivia Trip

Join the Mission Ministry of Woodland Park for a medical and evangelistic outreach to the people of Bolivia – September 10-18. There will also be opportunities to participate in Children’s Ministry outreach.

Pastoral Search

With the knowledge that God has already chosen His man for Woodland Park, and with the confidence that He will lead us in our search the pastoral search team has begun the task of organizing to achieve our vision of following God fully. Team members have been divided into the following sub-teams:

Process Development Team:

Team Members: Hank Humphrey, Steve Bradshaw, Kristen Hammel, Tommye Hammel, Scott Mossburg, and Pat Riley

Team Focus:

Strengthen the questionnaire and information packet for candidates
Develop an orderly process for obtaining, screening, and evaluating candidates
Communicate the team’s findings to elders and staff

Research Team:

Team Members: Bill Passons, Wayne Brown, Chris Crow, Ed Fleming, Trevor Overcash, Ron Stokes, and Carl Willis.

Team Focus:

Find additional candidates for consideration
Keep the vision and ministry distinctives in focus during the process
Screen and thoroughly evaluate the doctrine, gifts, and track record of potential candidates

Prayer/Communication Team:

Team Members: Scott Bergthold, Kim Callahan, Debbie Cosby, Robin Currier, Greg Hurskin, and Lori Overcash.

Team Focus:

Communicate prayer concerns and pastoral search updates to the body through the Weekly, WPBC website, and Bible Fellowships
Organize prayer events supporting our soon-coming pastor and ready our body for his ministry

What’s Next?

Keeping the body informed about the pastoral search team’s progress is important to us. Although the amount of information we have, and are at liberty to share will vary from month to month, we are committed to communicating what we can on a monthly basis via Bible Fellowships, the Weekly, and as a link on our church website (www.woodlandpark.org).

We encourage you to pray along with us. This is an exciting time at WPBC! God is already moving in amazing ways. We are confident and hopeful that He will direct us to His man in His time, and we ask you to join us in expecting great things in the months to come.

Production Crew

The Worship Ministry will present “Four Tickets to Christmas”, a dramatic musical written in the style of classic Broadway on December 11 & 12. A production crew will be needed to help many areas, some right now and some closer to the production. We need volunteers in the following areas:

Construction

Beginning in October; building the set, extra staging, and some props.

Costumes

Beginning now; we need seamstresses as well as those willing to help acquire special items. We may also need help sewing curtains and other simple items.

Make-up

Just before and during the production; help acquire make-up, set up the make-up area and assist the cast with applying their make-up.

Props

Beginning now; we need people willing to help search second-hand stores for props, track items that are loaned to us, and make some items

Painting

Beginning in October; we will need people willing to help paint (basic and decorative) the various set pieces and some props.

Childcare

From now through the production; we will need help with childcare for the cast and crew during the numerous extra rehearsals.

Food

From now through the production; we will need to coordinate food for the cast and crew during the several day-long rehearsals and possibly during the productions.

Stage Crew

Week of the production; we will need help backstage and doing scene changes.

Baptismal Class

Our next Baptismal Class will be held on August 29, and our next baptism will take place in the morning service(s) on September 12. If you would like to be baptized on that date, you must register with the Membership office at 423.899.9186, ext. 102 by Wednesday, August 25.
